Year 2, Week 9 – Mud Crabs, Yachts & Goodbye Gladstone
Ok, I know you’ve all been waiting with bated breath… well, the suspense is over — we got mud crabs! 🦀 Woohoo! So many, in fact, that we actually hit double the bag limit and had to throw half back. Safe to say, we were pretty chuffed with ourselves.
What a feed!
One night during the week, we whipped up a simple yet delicious mud crab, lemon, and parsley pasta — fresh, light, and full of flavour. With a freezer already stocked full of fish from the previous week’s efforts, it’s safe to say we’ll be feasting on seafood for a while yet!
The rest of the week flew by as we wrapped up our final days of work in Gladstone. We caught up with friends for dinner one night and were all set to leave on Saturday… but plans quickly changed when those same friends invited us out on their yacht for the weekend. How could we possibly say no?
We extended our stay at the caravan park, packed our bags, and hopped aboard from Friday through Sunday. There’s just something so special about being out on the water — the breeze in your hair, the sun shining down, and wildlife everywhere you look. We spotted dolphins, dugongs, and sharks during our little adventure.

The yacht weekend was a total highlight — good friends, delicious food, plenty of drinks, loads of laughs… and not a single fish caught! By Sunday, we hopped off the boat, prepped the van for the next leg of our journey, packed everything away, and got ready to hit the road once again.
