Year 2, Week 8 - Seafood Galore & Sunset Beers

Still working in Gladstone this week, so the weekdays were pretty stock-standard. But when the weekend rolled around, things got a little more exciting!

Ryan headed out for an overnight fishing trip to the reef with the boys, while Rachael caught up with a friend for some lunch and a bit of op shopping. The trip didn’t quite go according to plan though… at 11pm, Rachael woke up to a phone call from Ryan:

"I’m outside the van. Please let me in."

Yep — back home early! But it wasn’t all bad news — the boys still managed to catch plenty of fish.

Red Emperor

Sunday morning turned into a full-on seafood processing session. Damo and the two Ryans were on filleting duty while Rachael handled cryovac duty. By the end of it, our freezer was packed!

In the afternoon, we jumped in Damo’s boat and headed out into the harbour and creeks to drop in some crab nets. A few sunset beers on the water topped off the weekend perfectly.

Will we score any mud crabs? You’ll have to wait until next week to find out!
