Year 2, Week 14 – More Time in Mackay

This week in Mackay went by quickly, with work being the main focus. The days slipped by in the usual rhythm, and before we knew it, the weekend had arrived.

Friday night we treated ourselves to dinner at The Deck Steakhouse on the Marina—and wow, what a meal! Absolutely delicious and a spot we’d highly recommend if you’re ever in Mackay.

We highly recommend The Deck Steakhouse!

Saturday was… let’s just say a slower day. Rachael may have overindulged in those very large wine glasses the night before (oops!), so we kept things low-key. A bit of cleaning, a bit of chilling, and plenty of recovery.

By Sunday, we were ready to explore. We headed north to Seaforth and instantly loved the relaxed coastal vibe. So much so, that we ended up booking a stay there for when we leave Mackay next week! From there we meandered down the coast, checking out Bell Bay, Smalleys Beach (a great low-cost camp option, though a bit too shady for caravans), and Cape Hillsborough. Each place had its own charm, and it was nice to get a little taste of what’s nearby.

We wrapped up the day with some grocery shopping and a stop at Lamberts Lookout. It’s a stunning spot that would be perfect for whale watching during the season.

A super chilled weekend to round out the week. We’ve got one more week in Mackay before we hit the road again, and while we’re excited to move on, we’ve genuinely enjoyed our time here.

Hit the road 🎵 — we’ve got places to be. – R&R
